After a surprisingly pleasant, stable February, March was…not that, necessarily. There were a lot of things that made day-to-day pieces tricky and unexpected, and just so many changes in plans. In all that chaos, though, there are, as almost always, small things, metaphorical tent stakes, that keep everything from blowing away in the wind.
Things I Loved in March
Lucky Irish Breakfast Tea (really, any Irish Breakfast tea, but this is the one I have right now), and celebrating St. Patrick’s Day in a decidedly not-green-beer way.
Tiny plants & Wildflowers - this is the month of sprouting in Texas, and I’m so pleased that some of the seeds I’ve planted are growing, after a couple of disappointing gardening years. I also have some rogue bluebonnets in my front yard, and couldn’t be happier.
Voice Memos - my most significant cultural touchpoint writer has been recording voicemails on a hotline of sorts for paying subscribers, and, as previously noted, I’m obsessed with voice memos and it’s always nice to be reminded of why. I am not a big believer of voice memo etiquette - talk how you need to talk, and let your listener work through your thinking at their own pace. Or maybe just find the people who don’t mind a five-minute voice memo - I’m here for it!
The Indigo Girls in concert in a perfect venue that I’d never heard of before. I’m not a super-fan, but they show up in my life at times I need them and have been the soundtrack to many a transition.
This post about using the things you have and not being afraid of them.
This post about multi-layered calendars (though it’s a decidedly not-very-yoga way to approaching the world.
This book that combines the Salem witch trials and late-80’s teen culture
In general, this poetry-themed newsletter, where a lot of other things I’m reading come from
April is a wild month in my world, for good reasons (my husband’s running a triathlon and we have friends in town for it, I’m finishing up several yearlong PD projects, and have a yoga-themed trip planned); because of that, I won’t actually be able to teach any classes during my regular slots in April.
In the meantime, here are some of my go-to on-demand options:
Michelle Cordero - my Breathe for Change teacher
Yoga with Adriene - always great
Studio Satya - my home studio that offers a very affordable on-demand class library
Down Dog - not my favorite instruction, but very customizable and with affordable options, particularly for educators
